From November 3 to 4, 2024, Wanma Macromolecule's 2024 Annual Innovation Conference was successfully held in Lin'an. Attending the conference were Li Haiquan, Vice President of Wanma Co., Ltd.; Huang Shengqiang, General Manager of Wanma Macromolecule; Liu Huanxin, Chief Engineer; members of the Wanma Macromolecule management team; heads of primary departments; core management personnel; and technical backbone staff, totaling over a hundred participants. They came together to witness and promote the company's innovative development. The conference also invited special guest experts and trainers, including Fu Mingli, a specially appointed expert by the state; Wen Shanghai, an industry expert; Li Na, a senior engineer from Shanghai National Cable Testing Company; and Wang Anhui, a gold-certified trainer from Huawei, to serve as expert judges and training instructors.
The conference was opened with a keynote speech by Ding Jichao, Vice General Manager of the company. He reviewed the achievements made by the company in talent cultivation and mechanism building, and emphasized the crucial role of innovation in the company's development. He pointed out that it is essential to firmly establish an innovation mindset and to treat innovation as a long-term strategic task for Wanma Macromolecule. He stressed the need to continuously strengthen the innovation talent pool, expand the core team, optimize the qualification system, and conduct evaluation work. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of continuously improving the innovation work mechanisms, encouraging joint efforts and collaborative innovation, increasing innovation incentives, and building a maker-type organization.
On the first day of the conference, the company conducted the P5 and P6 level evaluations and training for the technical research and development sequence. The meeting invited experts Wen Shanghai and Fu Mingli, Chief Engineer Liu Huanxin, President Xiang Jian of the Shanghai Research Institute, and heads of the manufacturing, marketing, and human resources departments to serve as judges. Participants provided detailed reports on their work performance, professional capabilities, and technical achievements. The judges evaluated the participants comprehensively from an industry perspective and professional standpoint, and conducted question-and-answer sessions. All attendees at the conference also scored the participants through an online voting system, ensuring that the evaluation process was open, fair, and just.
Following this, Mr. Wang Anhui, an IPD expert from Huawei and a gold-certified lecturer at Huawei University, delivered a training session titled "IPD Product Development Management." Mr. Wang systematically explained the concepts and core elements of Integrated Product Development (IPD). He provided a comprehensive interpretation of IPD product development management, covering aspects such as product strategy and planning, product development management, and the implementation of IPD. This training gave participants a more systematic understanding of product development management.
Ms. Li Na from the National Cable Testing Center delivered a compelling training session on the performance requirements of electrical equipment cables and materials. She provided a detailed explanation of the classification, characteristics, and performance standards of electrical equipment cables in various application scenarios, with a particular emphasis on the special performance standards and requirements for materials in their respective application fields. Additionally, Ms. Li shared her insights into technical issues encountered during the application of special industry standards, which offered valuable guidance for our understanding and application of cable standards.
The second day of the conference was opened by Ms. Zhao Caixia from the Quality Management Department. Manager Zhao summarized the lean activities conducted by various departments within the company. Data shows that the company's lean improvement activities in 2024 have achieved significant results. She proposed that in the future, we will implement a series of effective measures, including increasing project reviews and continuously improving management processes, to further enhance the quality of projects from both quantity and quality perspectives.
Following this, 12 team leaders from Qingyuan Wanma, Sichuan Wanma, Huzhou Wanma, the Manufacturing Center, the R&D Center, the Supply Chain Center, and the Financial Management Department presented their QC projects and improvement initiatives for the year. They detailed their teams' innovation and improvement efforts from multiple dimensions, including topic selection, project planning, goal setting, research methods, execution strategies, and solution design, as well as the presentation of results. They also responded to questions raised by the review experts on the spot.
Then, the conference unveiled four new products, including low-smoke halogen-free materials, flame-retardant PVC, flame-retardant polyether TPU, and silane-crosslinked materials. These products are widely applied in various fields such as power cables, control cables, shipboard cables, and photovoltaic cables. Their superior performance meets the high standards required for specialized application scenarios.
During the conference, after rigorous evaluation by the expert judges and the audience, 12 outstanding projects, 12 Technical Stars, 1 excellent team, and 1 Person of the Year for Innovation were selected. In a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, the company leaders honored the winners, inspiring and motivating everyone present.
In his closing remarks at the innovation conference, Chief Engineer Liu Huanxin highly praised the increasingly vibrant innovation atmosphere within the company, commended the evaluated projects, and lauded the enthusiasm of the employees who actively engaged in innovation. He emphasized the importance of focusing on quality, cost, and customer value during the product development process, highlighting the necessity of developing, training, and promoting innovation projects. At the same time, Mr. Liu pointed out that monitoring the execution of projects and enhancing cost awareness still require improvement. He proposed that change is the essence of innovation and that the principle of change being the only constant must be adhered to. He called for innovation work to be centered around the principles of "improving quality, reducing costs, increasing efficiency, and putting customers first," encouraging everyone to think creatively, collaborate closely, and focus on the interests of customers and the company, dedicated to value creation, to jointly drive the company towards a brighter future.
General Manager Huang Shengqiang delivered the concluding remarks at the innovation conference. He first indicated that the organization and hosting of the conference, the creation of an innovative atmosphere, the enhancement of innovation awareness, and the promotion of innovative actions had all met the expected goals. He highly affirmed the various innovative achievements made by Wanma Macromolecule over the past year. He pointed out that innovation should not be limited to the technical domain but should also encompass management, models, and organizational structures, emphasizing the importance of establishing an innovation platform. Mr. Huang encouraged the team to be bold in moving forward and to create landmark innovation projects to lead industry development. He outlined a blueprint for rapid growth from 2025 to 2030. In the face of future challenges, the company plans to achieve integrated development of insulating materials, diversified expansion of sheathing materials, and efforts to explore new areas, aiming to realize the global development of Wanma Macromolecule.
